Hannah Pezzack and Elina Tapio
"Scrying" is the act of gazing into an object— a pool of dark water, a mirror, or black-painted glass — in order to receive spectral visions or messages. It's a psychic attunement into one’s second sight, revealing knowledge often concealed. Elina Tapio and Hannah Pezzack ascribe this ocular practice to the mystical nature of Deep Listening. By conversing with ghosts from the past or cybernetic entities arriving from the future, Scrying the Landscape narrates Sonic Fictions (SF), unveiling hidden truths, auditory fantasies and deceptive hallucinations. Here, traversing terrain that is virtual and physical, the ear is expanded as a speculative endeavour.
Hannah Pezzack and Elina Tapio are both Amsterdam-based DJs who share an interest in critical theory and alchemical storytelling, posthumanist philosophy, sound studies and art. Scrying the Landscape is a collision of these orientations, conceived as a mix series where each episode is dedicated to a specific concept, explored through experimental music and unearthly compositions..
