Elevating / Escalating w. Vamilienfa†er
This episode of „Elevating / Escalating“ focuses on recordings from the back-archive of 4 Track cassettes recorded between 2018 & 2020 und the title „a retirada“ – mostly in Lagos, Portugal. The pieces were composed particularly for the medium of cassette – following a made up concept named „fixed media“ – which plays on the fact, that the sounds fixed on the cassette tape are static but yet un-sync-able (or: fluid) to other sources during recording or playback. All music was composed using a rudimentary small scale Modular system, Walkmans and the Koma-Electronic Field Kits. Besides simplistic drones and naive tribalism, the recordings are full of tape-hiss and noisy artifacts – based on the simple facts all recordings were made on a box of cassettes found behind the bins in the old town of Lagos.
